What signs tell you you’re stressed

Too stressed to function?

From a psychological perspective, the first signs of being under stress may manifest as a problem remembering the smallest things. You may develop an inability to make even the simplest decisions. You find your concentration going and become easily distracted, and find yourself suddenly prone to accidents.

You may find yourself feeling less intuitive, have creative blocks, find yourself worrying, as well as becoming vague. You may know many people like this, and believe its normal behaviour, but they are all psychological signs that a person is stressed.

If you work with someone who was able to get on with the job adequately in the past, but is now showing signs of irritability, defensiveness, having mood swings and is often tearful, then your colleague needs to find ways of dealing with the stress more effectively. A male colleague may show signs of deep frustration, anger, feelings being out of control, and may be extra sensitive to criticism and defensive.

It could be they are not making enough time for relaxation or pleasurable activities, and are in danger of becoming a workaholic. Their time management may be poor, the standard of work may have dropped, and they may take more time off work or just be having no effect at work. They may also have increased their reliance on smoking, alcohol dependence, caffeine, or their behaviour may change radically, that indicates they using recreational or illegal drugs. They may also be becoming reckless, and may take up gambling of some sort or another. With mobile gambling sites it’s so much easier to develop an addiction to gambling these days.
