Exceptions

There are always exceptions in therapy
I can’t treat everything

To every 10 enquiries I receive, at least 2 are exceptions, where I can not or do not work. It’s important to get the correct therapist for the right job, (You wouldn’t see a dentist for a problem with your toes). So although there are many problems we help people with, there are equally health issues which are exceptions and I do not work with hypnosis or need specialist help.

So these are the exceptions for which Penny does not work:

  • Children under 16 – unless it’s a specific phobia like dogs or spiders, or exam stress based.
  • ADHD – unless they are managing it with medication. No management is likely to increase anxiety when under trance conditions.
  • Asperger’s syndrome – Please seek specialist treatment.
  • Epilepsy
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bi-Polar with psychotic episodes.
  • Hallucinations.
  • Heroin addiction.
  • Excessive alcohol dependence.

Also please bear in mind issues around panic attacks or agoraphobia if you smoke. The chances are you will need to stop smoking are 100%. If you want to reduce the panic, then I am happy to work with you to first give up smoking before addressing anything else. I have in the past visited clients in their homes if agoraphobia is an issue, however, if the environment is not right for therapy, I insist that some action be taken towards working online or in the clinic.
