The anchoring technique
Anchoring oneself

1) ACKNOWLEDGE your thoughts and feelings.
Say to self out loud “I am having the thought that……………….”
or “I am having the feeling that………………………………………”
 
2) CONNECT to your body.Stretch, push feet into floor, dance, jump, press hands together etc.
 
3) ENGAGE with your environment. Say out loud
 
5 things you can see.
4 things you can hear
3 things you can touch
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste.
